About the site and the tools
Do I need an account to use the calculators?
No. There is no account system on this site at all. The calculators and
trainers run entirely in your browser, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Your practice progress is stored in your browser's local storage on your own device.
Is this site in English?
Partly. The calculators and trainers have English or language-neutral
interfaces, and this section explains the site in English. The 20-lesson course,
the question banks and the cheat-detection handbook are written in Chinese and are
not machine-translated — a bad translation of a strategy course does more harm than
good. See the table on the home page for what is readable
without Chinese.
Which ruleset do the calculators follow?
Riichi, East-round rules: ippatsu on, ura dora on, three red fives,
double-wind 4 fu, open tanyao allowed, counted yakuman at 8000. Mangan uses the
standard trigger (base points ≥ 2000 — 3 han 70 fu / 4 han 40 fu / 5 han);
kiriage mangan is not applied.
Why do some hands show several "recommended" discards?
Because those discards genuinely have the same shanten and the same number
of improving tiles. That is a real tile-efficiency result — with several equally good
discards you then choose by safety, dora and turn number. It is not a bug in the
analyzer.
Progress, devices and offline use
My progress disappeared after clearing my browser data. Can I get it back?
Only if you exported it. Because there is no server, clearing browser data
permanently deletes your progress. The progress centre
can export everything as a JSON file, copy it as a compressed transfer code, or turn it
into a link you can open on another device. We recommend doing that once.
Can I move my progress to another device?
Yes. Open the progress centre and use Copy transfer code —
it compresses your records into a short text string. On the other device open the same
page and use Import from clipboard. There is also a link form if you prefer to
send it to yourself by message.
Is there a mobile app?
No, but the site is a Progressive Web App — on a phone you can add it to
your home screen and it will behave like an app, including working offline for pages
you have already visited.
Fair play
Does the site teach cheating?
No. The anti-cheat section exists so that players can recognise and defend
against rigged games. It is written from the defensive side, and the site explicitly
opposes gambling. If you suspect cheating in a real game, preserve evidence and report
it to the authorities.
